The application period for the 2026-27 school year will be open from April 1 to May 5, 2026. 

The Draper City Mayor’s Youth Council provides youth an opportunity to increase their knowledge of civic education through practical, hands-on experience. The Youth Council is composed of students in 9 - 12 grades who are charged with representing youth in the City. The Mayor’s Youth Council will: 

  • Involve youth in local government through participation in Draper Youth Council committees
  • Increase volunteerism among youth in civic affairs
  • Enhance civic education

The application period for the 2026-27 school year will be open April 1 to May 5, 2026.

Applicants desiring to serve on the Executive Board must be in grades 10 - 12, maintain a minimum GPA of 3.0, have served on the Youth Council for at least one year, attend all Executive Board meetings, and must not be a member of another conflicting Draper City organization (i.e., Miss Draper). 

All Draper Mayor's Youth Council applicants are interviewed by the mayor as a block, not individually. Following are the interview dates for 2026. Applicants will be notified to confirm final scheduling.

All applicants for the Draper Mayor's Youth Council must attend a mandatory parent/student meeting. 

Two dates are offered for the parent/student meeting. Attendance is only required at one.
