Salt Lake County has a free drive-up Household Hazardous Waste Collection Center for county residents, located at 8805 South 700 West in Sandy.
Hours:
Monday - Saturday
7:00 AM to 5:00 PM
Household Hazardous Waste (HHW) is anything in or around your home that is poisonous, flammable, corrosive, or toxic, as well as products (such as electronics) that contain certain materials like heavy metals.
Common HHW includes:
- Automotive batteries and fluids like antifreeze and oil
- Fuels
- Paints, stains, and varnishes
- Pesticides, herbicides, and other yard chemicals
- Many cleaning supplies
- Cooking oil
- Aerosols
- Electronics and fluorescent bulbs
- Nonalkaline batteries such as lithium, NiMH, NiCd (alkaline batteries—such as common AA, AAA, C, and D batteries—are not considered hazardous)
Business waste and waste from residents of other counties is accepted for a fee. Business waste is accepted by appointment only (call 385-468-4380 to schedule an appointment for business waste disposal).
It is dangerous to dispose of HHW in your garbage can or down sinks or toilets, and it is illegal to abandon HHW or pour it into gutters, storm drains, or waterways. Storing or disposing of these items improperly poisons our land, air, and water and may result in both civil and criminal penalties.
For more information about HHW collection, visit SaltLakeHealth.org/HHW.
Alternatively, HHW may be taken to safe HHW disposal sites at the Salt Lake Valley or Trans-Jordan Landfills.
How can you recycle glass and bulk cardboard?
1. Glass Recycling
Draper City is partnered with Momentum Recycling to provide optional glass curbside recycling. If you sign up with Momentum, they will deliver a 35-gallon wheeled can for glass recycling to you. The cost is a one-time setup fee of $25 and the monthly collection service is $8/month. Draper City coordinates the billing so the service is added to your existing utility bill. All colors of glass bottles and jars are accepted, and there is no need to rinse with water or remove labels.
Drop-off glass recycling is available at Draper City Hall at 1020 Pioneer Road. The green dumpster is on the southeast side of the parking lot, and is accessible 24/7.

What if my container was missed on pick-up day?
If your container was not emptied on your regularly scheduled pick-up day, call (801) 576-6504. New Year's Day, Independence Day, Thanksgiving Day, and Christmas Day could affect your pick-up day. If your pick-up falls on or after the holiday, your pick-up will be delayed by one day for that week only.
